Indeed, pictures of people that were taken when they were unaware of the photographer frequently seem to have more personality than those that were carefully posed and prearranged. A skilled photographer also uses this technique when taking studio prints as well. This is done by having a light conversation with the subject and taking the photos when he or she is no longer focused on the camera.
